The Station

Platforms for my trains of thought.

Welcome to The Station!

Hello there, universe!

My name is Charlotte, and I’ve set up this site to share my experiences, opinions and observations on the world around us, usually with an oat milk vanilla latte in hand.

Before I launch in, here’s a little introduction and some information about me:

  • I am a 33-year-old woman living in West Yorkshire, England.
  • I am a mum to my gorgeous 2.5 year old boy. For the first year of his life, I was a single parent due to the breakdown of my marriage two weeks postpartum, until I met my current partner who I’m still with now.
  • I have worked in education for many years, first as a specialist SEN teaching assistant, then as a secondary English teacher.
  • I am a musician and writer – poetry and folky, melancholy songs in particular are my thing.

I intend to use this site to express myself, but also to hopefully build a community of like-minded people. As I’ve grown older, I’ve felt increasingly isolated and alienated, especially since becoming a mum. It feels as if it’s hard to find people, or at least hard to reach them. Everybody’s eyes seemed to be turned inwards, so to speak, and understandably so – things are hard right now for most people. As a result, I would really love to meet eyes, even if only digitally, with you all.
