Welcome to The Station, the place where my many and varied trains of thought can pull into a platform. From the state of education in the UK to C-sections to the characterisation of Les Miserables to that awkward moment in The Holiday… absolutely anything and everything is up for discussion.
As a practically pathological over-analyser and over-thinker, I finally decided to give my hundreds of trains of thought this station to pull into. As well as serving to organise my scattered and somewhat overloaded mind, I hope this blog can serve as a place where those of you who also like to delve deeply into contemplations can come on a journey with me.
Not all those who wander are lost. – J.R.R. Tolkein
How it works
This website is organised according to platforms, departures, arrivals and dispatches. Who doesn’t love a whimsical extended metaphor?
The Platforms
Each post will arrive on a specific platform. Each platform has a different topic, as follows:
Platform 1 – Film & Music
Platform 2 – Literature
Platform 3 – Personal Journeys
Platform 4 – The Modern World
Platform 5 – Oddities and Experiments
The arrivals, departures and dispatches will all fit into one (or more) of these categories.
The arrivals
Arrival posts are for reflections, insights, and conclusions. These are the posts where I explore something in life that I’m reflecting on, or something that I’ve learned recently. These are naturally more personal and close to the heart.
The Departures
Departure posts are explorations, analyses and theories. Think film and literature analyses and concept exploration. This is where you belong if you love deep-dives and breakdowns – here, we can follow a train of thought outwards.
The Dispatches
These feel like letters written to the outside world from within the station. Musings on the state of the world, intimate explorations of thoughts that won’t sit still. A window into my inner world as I look outwards.

Take a voyage with a mind that refuses to stay on one track.
Essays on literature, film, lived experiences and the shifting world outside the window.
